3 Things to Do in the Middle of a Storm

promises victory Apr 26, 2021

Life can really throw us some curve balls. We can find ourselves in the middle of a storm. The question is... what do we do? What do we do in the middle of a storm?

Let's look at Jesus' example in Mark chapter 4 when He found himself in the middle of a storm.

Mark 4:39 (GNT) - "Jesus stood up and commanded the wind, “Be quiet!” and he said to the waves, “Be still!” The wind died down, and there was a great calm."

When Jesus was in the middle of the storm, the first thing he did was stand up. It represents a position of victory. When you're in a storm, remember that the victory is already yours.

1 Corinthians 15:57 (ESV) - "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

The next thing Jesus did in Mark 4:39 is command. This represents having authority. It's important for you to know that in the middle of a storm, you are not subject to the storm. You have authority.

Luke 10:19 (NIV) - "I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you."

The third thing that Jesus did in the middle of a storm is spoke. He spoke to the waves. In the middle of the storm, we need to speak God's word. We don't speak about the problem. This doesn't mean that we deny there is a problem; but it does mean that we speak God's promises.

Isaiah 55:11 (AMP) - "So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it."

My prayer today is that you feel empowered to overcome any storm you face. Just follow Jesus' example. At the end of Mark 4:39 it says that there was a great calm. Let us stand up, walk in our authority, and speak God's Word in the middle of a storm so we can experience a great calm.

Don't give up! Keep going!
