Feed Your Faith

faith Jan 29, 2021

When you feed something, you nourish it. You deposit things in it to help it grow. However, if you feed something the wrong thing, it could cause damage or even kill it.

Let's make sure we are feeding our faith the right things so our faith can GROW!

Let's be intentional:

1) Feed your faith - The Word of God

Jeremiah 15:16 (AMP) - "Your words were found and I ate them, And Your words became a joy to me and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Your name, Lord God of hosts. "

When you first start eating healthy, the food may not taste that great to you. But the more you feed on it, the more you acquire a taste for it. You may even begin to crave it. I want to encourage you to feed on the Word every day. The more you feed on God's Word, the more you will desire it.

2) Feed your faith - Gratitude

Colossians 2:6-7 (HCSB) - "Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, overflowing with gratitude."

Gratitude is a characteristic of established faith. We believe what God has said will come to past in our lives, so our response is gratitude. As we express gratitude to the Lord, we are nourishing our faith. We thank God before we see things manifest in our lives. We thank Him because we believe that it is already done.

3) Feed your faith - Community

Revelations 12:11 (NLT) - "And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die."

When we share our story with other people, that nourishes and grows our faith. It also nourishes and grows their faith. We were not designed to do life alone. We were designed to build one another up and sharpen each other.

Let's make a committment:

Let's ask God to show us which of these three should we focus on to feed our faith. Do we need to spend more time reading His Word? Do we need to be more mindful of our attitude and be intentional about expressing gratitude? Do we need to engage inside of community? Maybe it is a combination of all three.

Psalm 37:3 (TPT) - "Keep trusting in the Lord and do what is right in his eyes. Fix your heart on the promises of God and you will be secure, feasting on his faithfulness."

As we feed our faith, we position ourselves to feed on God's faithfulness.

It's time to be intentional.
