God-Centered Success

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." – Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

When you think about how something is designed, you have to think about the intentionality behind the creation. Our God created us with intentionality. He was intentional with every part of us, both inside and out. He was also intentional about designing our destiny. Our destiny was designed for success.

We live in a world where it is common to measure success by external achievements. But as God's children, it's important that we redefine what success means. In my own life, because I am such a 'high-achiever', I had to shift my own understanding of success and make sure that I aligned my goals with God's purpose for my life. I have learned that when you embrace a God-centered definition of success, it can transform your life and lead you to true fulfillment.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." – Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

This is a verse that I have read countless times, but every single time I read it, I am encouraged. I am reminded that God has a unique plan for me, a plan designed to bring me God-success. When I read this verse, I am inspired to focus on seeking Him and aligning myself with His blueprint. As I reflect on this scripture, I recognize more and more how God’s definition of success is different from the world’s. His plans are not just for my immediate happiness but for my everlasting good.

So how do you live a life where you are experiencing God-Centered Success?

1) Understanding God's Vision for Your Life
Start by spending time in prayer and reading Scripture. Ask God to help you to understand His vision for your life. This is a non-negotiable when it come to discerning your path and aligning your actions with His will. He protects you from pursuing potentially empty achievements.

2) Setting Goals that Honor God
Once you have a sense of clarity about God’s vision, set goals that are not just about personal or professional gain but about serving others and glorifying God. Whether it’s through your career, community service, or relationships, let your actions reflect God’s love and purpose.

3) Celebrating Spiritual Milestones
Recognize and celebrate not only your external achievements but also your spiritual growth. Celebrate moments of enhanced faith, increased generosity, and strengthened relationships. These are the successes that endure beyond this life.

I want to encourage you to take some time to journal and reflect. Here are some questions to consider: How does your current definition of success align with scripture? What are some specific goals you can set that align with God’s purpose for your life? What spiritual milestones have you recently reached or hope to achieve soon?

Reflect on Jeremiah 29:11 this week. Journal about what plans God might have for you that you haven’t yet considered. Choose one goal and outline steps you can take to achieve it.

Dear God, help us to understand Your definition of success and to pursue it with all our hearts. May we find joy and satisfaction not in worldly accolades but in fulfilling Your purposes for our lives. Bless our efforts to glorify You in all that we do. In Jesus' name, Amen!
