One thing I am sure of is my calling to media. God gave me a mandate to infiltrate media and to help others do the same. The beauty of all of this is that it does not have to be 'just' with social media. Media is a mass form a communication and it's how we get our message out there. One way to get your message out there is to position yourself for speaking engagements. Not only will you get your message out there, you will also create another path of revenue for your business.

So, how do you position yourself for paid speaking engagements?

I always tell my clients to start with creating a digital footprint. This way, you can build a strong online presence. You can create a website and social media accounts that showcase your expertise and the topics you speak about. Use these platforms to share your content and engage with your audience.

Now, when you are on these platforms, create valuable content. Set yourself up as the expert in your industry by producing high-quality content such as blog posts, videos, and podcasts. This will help to establish you as a thought leader and attract potential clients.

Let me add that networking will really help move the needle further, faster.  You should also attend industry events and conferences, and connect with other speakers, event organizers, and potential clients.

As doors of opportunity open up, step through them. It will be very beneficial for you to get speaking experience. You can start by speaking at local events, community gatherings, and meetups. This will help you to build your confidence and develop your skills.

Create a speaking reel by creating a video or audio recording of yourself speaking and use it to showcase your speaking skills and style to potential clients. Develop a professional speaker's kit that includes a bio, headshot, testimonials, and a list of speaking topics and fees.
