Own Your Assignment

Mar 28, 2024

"I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” - Jeremiah 1:5 (NLT)

I'll never forget the day God spoke to my heart about being an author. My mind immediately went to the fact that there were a gazillion Christian authors already and I began to question why even bother to pursue that dream. As I was wrestling with the idea, the Lord led me to Jeremiah 1:5. He began to tell me that it didn't matter how many other Christian authors there were in the world. None of them were "me." I began to recognize that I am needed and that it was going to be necessary for me to own my assignment because there were people attached to it.

I want to encourage you with that truth today. You are necessary and your assignment is necessary. It's time for you to own it. It's time for you to get in alignment with the intentionality of God.

Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) - "For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."

The Lord was very intentional concerning His plans for you. He knew the plans consisted of good things. Your assignment is a good thing. Embrace it. Own it. It is unique to you and there are people praying for your YES!

How do you take steps of ownership?

1. Identify Your Assignment

Action: Dedicate time each day to seek God in prayer, asking Him to reveal your assignment.

Bible Verse:  James 1:5 (NLT) - "Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."

Practical Step: Set a daily time for prayer and scripture reading, focusing on verses that reaffirm God’s faithfulness and timing.

2. Celebrate Small Wins and Signs of Progress

Action: Recognize and celebrate every small victory or sign of progress along the way. This helps maintain a positive outlook and acknowledges God's hand in your journey.

Bible Verse: Zechariah 4:10a (NLT) - "Do not despise these small beginnings...”

Practical Step: Keep a journal of progress and small victories. Reflect on how each step, no matter how small, is part of God’s plan for your journey.

3. Seek Fellowship and Support

Action: Surround yourself with a community of believers who can offer support, encouragement, and accountability.

Bible Verse: Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NLT) - "Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble."
