P.R.A.Y. FIRST (RENEW YOUR MIND)

Prayer is a powerful tool that we can use to connect with God and ask for His help. But did you know that the way we think can actually affect the effectiveness of our prayers?

The Bible tells us in Romans 12:2 to "be transformed by the renewing of your mind." This means that we need to change the way we think about ourselves, God, and the world around us. When we renew our minds with God's truth, we are better able to discern His will for our lives and pray in accordance with it.

Renewing our minds can help us to pray more effectively:

— It helps us to discern God's will. When we are constantly bombarded with negative thoughts and messages, it can be difficult to know what God is really saying to us. But when we renew our minds with God's truth, we are better able to hear His voice and understand His will for our lives.

— It helps us to pray with confidence. When we are filled with negative thoughts and doubts, it can be difficult to pray with confidence. But when we renew our minds with God's truth, we are reminded of His love for us and His faithfulness to His promises. This can give us the confidence to pray boldly and expectantly.

— It helps us to pray with power. When we pray from a place of renewed mind, our prayers are more likely to be effective. This is because our prayers are aligned with God's will and they are filled with His power.

So how can we renew our minds for prayer?

  • Spend time in God's Word. The Bible is the best source of truth for renewing our minds. When we read the Bible, we learn about God's character, His promises, and His love for us. This knowledge can help us to replace negative thoughts with positive ones, and to see the world through God's eyes.
  • Meditate on God's promises. One of the best ways to renew our minds is to meditate on God's promises. When we focus on His promises, we are reminded of His faithfulness and His love for us. This can help us to trust Him even when we don't understand what He is doing.
  • Pray for God to change your mind. If you are struggling to renew your mind, ask God to help you. He is the only one who can truly transform our hearts and minds. Pray that He would give you a clear understanding of His truth, and that He would help you to replace negative thoughts with positive ones.

Renewing our minds for prayer is an ongoing process. It takes time and effort, but it is worth it. When we renew our minds, we are better able to hear God's voice, pray with confidence, and pray with power. And when we pray in this way, our prayers are more likely to be answered.
