The Power of Prayer - Part 2

prayer Aug 11, 2021

This week we are continuing our talk around prayer.

Prayer is the way we communicate with God and it is so powerful. This month, the LIVE LOVE LEAD Community is taking a deep dive into prayer. Our foundational verse this month is:

Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV) - "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

We know that it is so important to resist worry and magnify our God instead of the problem. When challenges arise, we talk to God knowing He's got it and position our hearts toward thankfulness.

Let's also keep in mind that we can make our requests known to God. It's ok to ask our Heavenly Father for things. He desires that we have everything we need. If you have kiddos, I imagine you love taking care of them. In the same manner, God loves taking care of us. Today, I want to encourage you to go to God with your requests.

John 15:16 (ESV) - "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you."

God wants our lives to reflect His goodness and His glory. He is the one who chose us. Let's get on board and let our loving Father care for us.

John 15:7 (ESV) - " If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you."

This is all connected. As we abide in God and in His word, we shape our hearts and minds to be like His Abiding in His Word means we will know what to ask and have the faith to receive it. The Word and asking God are connected.

So, how can we apply this in our lives? We gotta stay in the Word.

1 John 5:14-15 (ESV) "And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him."

It's so important to get into the Word so we can align our hearts with God's heart. As we get tuned into God's heart, we experience the things He has for us.
