The Power of Your Story

As Kingdom business owners, it is really important for us to be intentional about telling our story. Our story is so powerful. What I love most, is that our story didn't start the day we were born. Our story has always been inside of our eternal God.

Ephesians 1:4 (NLT) - "Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes."

Psalm 139:16 (NLT) - "You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed."

Jeremiah 1:5 (NLT) - "“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

Our story was originated by our great God, who loves us. And yes, our story has some hard places, some places that wounded us, and some parts where we didn't make the right decision. There may even be some parts that resulted in brokenness. BUT, our great God made provision for all of that when He sent Jesus.

John 16:33 (NLT) - "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

John 3:16-17 (NLT) - “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him."

I want you to know that your story is powerful. In fact, I want you to look at your story as a seed. It's meant to be planted, nurtured, and to bear fruit.

So how do you plant your story?

You plant it by sharing it with others. When you share your story, it's planted in the hearts and minds of those who hear it. Your story plants seeds of faith in people. It helps them to see what is possible. It helps them know that there is hope. It can help them avoid things that would harm them. It can truly be the start to someone reaching their destiny.

The life of Jesus here on earth, started with a story. It was a word. It was a seed.

Luke 1:26-38 (NLT) - "In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you! Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!” Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. What’s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she has conceived a son and is now in her sixth month. For the word of God will never fail.” Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.

That day, a seed was planted and Mary nurtured that seed by her response: "May everything you have said about me come true."

When we give people an opportunity to respond to our story, it provides a way for the seed to be nurtured. It provides that path for people to begin the journey of potential.

Romans 10:17 (TPT) - "Faith, then, is birthed in a heart that responds to God’s anointed utterance of the Anointed One."

Your story is power and God has anointed you to share it and to create opportunities for people to respond.

So after your story is planted and nurtured, it is now positioned to bear fruit.

When someone hears your story, responds, and now takes action, your story is bearing fruit.

When someone shares your story with someone else, your story is bearing fruit.

You see, God is all about multiplication. Your story is designed to reach far beyond what you can see with your natural eyes.

Genesis 1:28 (ESV) - "And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

There is power in your story! Your story is a seed in the Kingdom and it gives people insight to you, how God uniquely created you, and the problem you are called to solve. Yes, you were born to solve a problem. People are looking for the solution you provide. Your story is the seed to their transformation.

So, today's application is to embrace your story! For some of you... you have tucked your story deep, deep away! The enemy wants you to feel guilt and shame around your story. NO MORE!

Again... Jesus made provision for ALL the parts of your story.

Romans 8:1 (NLT) - "So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus."

As people are empowered by your story, YOU are empowered too.

When you embrace your story, you embrace your healing. We've thought that sharing our story was a one way street. God today is renewing our minds. Sharing your story is a part of your healing journey.

Trust that God is with you on this journey. Trust that He won't let you fall.

Psalm 37:24 (NIV) - "though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand."

God is holding you up today. Rest in knowing that. I believe that as you embrace your story, God will reveal to you more and more the power of your story.
