Trust the Process

"This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed." - Habakkuk 2:3 (NLT)

This week's blog post is inspired by a LIVE video I did last week called "Trust the Process." It was a message that I needed myself and one that resonated with so many in our community.

"Trust" is such a loaded word. The definition of "trust' has evolved in my heart over the years. The more I walk with the Lord, the more I am learning that trust is a word that runs deep. It's a word that stretches wide. It's a word with substance, a substance that we use to fill the gap.

Has there ever been a gap between what you are experiencing and what you know the Lord says belongs to you? I'm raising my hand! When there is a gap, it is so important that we fill it with trust. We believe that God's plan is good AND that His timing is perfect. This is trusting the process.

Trusting the process is more than a mantra; it's a part of our calling to live by faith. The Bible points to this in Habakkuk 2:4 (NLT) - “Look at the proud! They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked. But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God."

When I read that verse, it is sobering. Every time I look to myself for anything, it is a display of pride. I have to discipline myself no matter what things look like to look to Jesus who is the author and finisher of my faith. I choose to live my life staying faithful to Him and His Word.

I am not saying that I have arrived or that I'm perfect at this. But, I want to be better today than I was yesterday. I want to trust God more and more every single day. I pray that this is also the cry of your heart. So what does this look like practically?

Here are 3 practical steps you can take to trust the process and stand in faith no matter what it "looks like":

1. Stay Rooted in Prayer and Scripture

Action: Engage with daily devotionals and prayer as a way to stay connected to God and find peace in His promises.

Bible Verse: Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT) - "Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."

Practical Step: Set a daily time for prayer and scripture reading, focusing on verses that reaffirm God’s faithfulness and timing.

2. Celebrate Small Wins and Signs of Progress

Action: Recognize and celebrate every small victory or sign of progress along the way. This helps maintain a positive outlook and acknowledges God's hand in your journey.

Bible Verse: Zechariah 4:10a (NLT) - "Do not despise these small beginnings...”

Practical Step: Keep a journal of progress and small victories. Reflect on how each step, no matter how small, is part of God’s plan for your journey.

3. Seek Fellowship and Support

Action: Surround yourself with a community of believers who can offer support, encouragement, and accountability.

Bible Verse: Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NLT) - "Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble."

Practical Step: Join the Live Love Lead Community where we support each other’s goals and prayers. Share your process as we encourage one another to keep trusting in God’s plan.

Again, I am sharing all of these things not because I have arrived or even consider myself an expert. I am on this journey right here with you. Together let's embrace this journey of trusting the process.

Trusting the process means surrendering control and acknowledging that our timeline is not always God's timeline. It's a journey of faith that teaches us to rely not on our strength but on the steadfast love and faithfulness of God. It's understanding that our present struggles are not in vain but are shaping us for the purposes God has ordained for our lives.

In moments of doubt and discouragement, let us cling to the promise that God is with us every step of the way. He is working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28), even when we can't see the full picture. Trusting the process is not just about waiting for a particular outcome; it's about growing closer to God and becoming more like Christ through the journey.

As we continue to navigate the uncertainties of life, let's commit to trusting the process, confident that the One who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion (Philippians 1:6). Let's not give up, for in due season, we will reap a harvest if we do not lose heart (Galatians 6:9). Together, we are trusting that God's plans for us are filled with hope, purpose, and an abundance of blessings.

How can you apply this in your life: Don't give up! Stay the course!

Dear God, you are so good to us and we thank you. Thank you for your faithfulness. We choose to trust you. We trust the process and embrace this journey. Lord, as we stay rooted in prayer we know we will experience Your peace. As we walk with you Father, we are full of gratitude. We celebrate ALL the things that you have blessed us with. Help us to stay focused. Reveal to us our faith buddies. We recognize that community is important on this journey. Thank you for the grace to embrace and trust the process. In Jesus' name, Amen.
