Release & Reset: Making Room for What God Wants to Do Next

“But forget all that—it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?”— Isaiah 43:18-19a (NLT)

There are seasons when God whispers, “Daughter, it’s time to let that go.” Not because He’s punishing you, but because He’s preparing you. As we approach a new year, many of us try to carry old mindsets, outdated commitments, stale rhythms, or emotional weights into a future that can’t hold them.
God, in His mercy, often closes doors we keep trying to push open.
Not to limit us — but to free us.
📖 Isaiah 43:18-19a (NLT) - “But forget all that—it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?”
Beauty, the new thing God is doing, requires space. And sometimes the most faith-filled thing you can do is release what’s familiar so you can reset your heart for what’s coming.
✨ Here is what I've learned
1. You can’t move forward while clinging to what God has already called finished.
Some assignments have expiration dates. Some relationships were seasonal. Some rhythms were right for where you were — not where you’re going. It’s not failure to release them. It’s obedience. When you stop dragging the old into the new, you make room for God’s best.
2. Reset requires surrender, not strategy.
Reset doesn’t start with a plan — it starts with a posture. When your heart bows before God, clarity comes. Strength comes. Peace comes. Reset is less about rearranging your life and more about realigning your spirit with God’s leading.
3. Letting go is hard, but staying stuck is harder.
Holding onto what no longer fits feels safe, but it slowly suffocates your capacity. Release is uncomfortable, yes — but it’s also liberating. When you release what drains you, you create space for what heals you. When you let go of what no longer carries grace, you make room for what carries glory.
Reflect & Journal:
Isaiah 28:12a (NLT) - “God has told his people, ‘Here is a place of rest; let the weary rest here.’”
💭 Rest begins when you stop carrying what was never meant to be yours in this season.
Matthew 11:28 (NLT) - “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
💭 Jesus doesn’t ask you to drag your burdens into a new year — He invites you to drop them at His feet.
Philippians 3:13b (NLT) - “But I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead…”
💭 Forward requires focus. Release clears your view so you can see what God is doing next.
🔄 Rhythm Shifts: Releasing What Can't Go With You
Alright, Beauty — take a breath.
Before you walk into 2026, you need rhythms that help you release what isn’t meant to go with you. These shifts will help you reset your heart and enter the new year with clarity and peace.
These rhythm shifts will help you carry purpose into the everyday moments of your life.
1. Shift from holding on to handing over.
Instead of gripping what’s familiar, place it into God’s hands.
💡 Write one thing you know God is asking you to release — and pray, “Lord, I give this back to you.”
2. Shift from doing more to discerning more.
Don’t move on last year’s instructions. Ask God what He’s saying now.
💡 Spend 10 minutes in stillness this week and ask, “God, what no longer aligns with my assignment?”
3. Shift from emotional clutter to spiritual clarity.
Your heart cannot carry everything. Let God sift what stays and what goes.
💡 Journal what brings peace and what brings pressure — and submit both to God.
Pray This Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for being the God of new beginnings. I surrender every weight, mindset, habit, and burden that cannot go with me into the next season. Reset my heart. Renew my focus. Restore my strength. Help me release what’s behind me so I can embrace the new thing you are doing. Lead me into 2026 with faith, peace, and freedom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Journal Prompts:
What is one mindset, habit, or assignment God is prompting me to release before the new year?
✍🏽 Isaiah 43:18 (NLT) – Do not dwell on the past.
What area of my heart feels cluttered, heavy, or drained — and needs God’s reset?
✍🏽 Psalm 51:10 (NLT) – Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Where do I sense God inviting me into a fresh start or new direction for 2026?
✍🏽 Proverbs 3:6 (NLT) – Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.
Say this out loud today:
“I release what cannot go with me — and I reset my heart for what God is doing next.”
Here are my final thoughts:
Beauty, you don’t have to drag anything old into your new season. God is faithful to highlight what needs to be released and gentle enough to guide you through the reset. Let go. Breathe again. Make room. What God is preparing for you in 2026 deserves a heart that is free, light, and fully surrendered.
