Stillness & Surrender – Making Space for God to Move

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10 (NIV)

We live in a world that applauds hustle and glorifies nonstop productivity. But here’s the truth: our souls weren’t created to keep up with the world’s pace.

They were created to rest in God’s presence.

To pause.

To breathe.

To remember who’s really in control.

Stillness isn’t weakness—it’s spiritual strength. And surrender isn’t giving up—it’s giving God room to move.

What Stillness & Surrender Really Look Like

Stillness isn’t just about slowing your schedule.

It’s about realigning your spirit with the One who knows the way forward.

Stillness says, “I don’t have to rush to figure it all out.”

Surrender says, “God, I trust Your way more than mine.”

Together, they open the door for peace, clarity, and divine direction.

Read & Journal:

• “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14 (NIV)

• “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength…” — Isaiah 30:15 (NIV)

• “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.” — Psalm 37:5 (NIV)

Stillness is where we stop trying to be the answer.

Surrender is where we invite the Answer to lead.

Rhythm Shifts: Building a Life That Invites God to Move

Here are three ways to practically create space for stillness and surrender in your day-to-day life:

1. Start Your Day in Silence Before the Lord

“In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.” — Psalm 5:3 (NIV)

Before grabbing your phone or jumping into the day, sit quietly with God, even if it’s just 5 minutes. No agenda. Just openness. Let Him speak to your heart before the world does.

2. Pause When Pressure Rises

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5 (NIV)

When you feel overwhelmed, practice the pause. Take a deep breath. Whisper a short prayer: “God, I surrender this moment to you.” Give Him space to lead you with peace instead of pressure.

3. End Your Day with Release

“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you.” — Psalm 55:22 (NIV)

Before bed, write down what’s on your mind. Then surrender it to God in prayer. Release the weight so you can rest. Trust that He’s still working—even while you sleep.

Dear God, teach me to rest in you. Quiet the noise in my soul and help me lay down my striving. Show me how to make space for your voice to rise above the chaos. I don’t want to move without you. I want to hear you, follow you, and trust you. Lead me in stillness. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Beauty, take 5 minutes today to sit in silence with God. No checklist. No pressure. Just presence. You don’t have to do more to receive more. Sometimes the most powerful move you can make is to simply be still.

He’s speaking. He’s moving. And He’s faithful to lead.
