Say Yes with Your Life

“So the wall was completed just fifty-two days after we had begun. When our enemies and the surrounding nations heard about it, they were frightened and humiliated. They realized this work had been done with the help of our God.”

— Nehemiah 6:15–16 (NLT)

There’s a difference between saying yes with our mouths and saying yes with our lives. One is verbal; the other is visible. I’ve learned that obedience isn’t proven by what we say—it’s revealed by how we live.

When God called Nehemiah to rebuild the wall, he didn’t host a prayer meeting about it. He didn’t wait for better weather or perfect timing. He simply said yes—and then he built.

📖 Nehemiah 6:15–16 (NLT) - “So the wall was completed just fifty-two days after we had begun. When our enemies and the surrounding nations heard about it, they were frightened and humiliated. They realized this work had been done with the help of our God.”

Beauty, your life is the loudest “yes” you’ll ever give to God. Every time you choose faith over fear, action over hesitation, and obedience over comfort—you’re saying yes with your life.

Here is what I've learned

1. A “yes” in your heart means little without movement in your life.

Nehemiah didn’t just believe in rebuilding—he put his hands to work. Faith without works is dead, and obedience without movement is delayed surrender. God is not looking for perfection; He’s looking for participation. Every step you take in faith is an act of worship.

2. Saying yes will often attract resistance.

When you start walking in purpose, the enemy gets nervous. Nehemiah faced mockery, threats, and distractions—but he refused to come down from the wall. The same will happen to you, Beauty remember: resistance isn’t a sign you’re off track—it’s confirmation you’re building something that matters.

3. Your yes creates ripple effects beyond what you can see.

When Nehemiah said yes, it didn’t just restore a wall—it revived a nation. Your obedience impacts generations. Someone else’s freedom, healing, or courage may be tied to your willingness to say yes and keep building when it’s hard.

Reflect & Journal:

  1. Romans 12:1 (NLT) - “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.”

💭 Your yes is worship. It’s not just about songs you sing—it’s about the life you live surrendered to His will.

  1. Isaiah 6:8 (NLT) - “Then I heard the Lord asking, ‘Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?’ I said, ‘Here I am. Send me.’”

💭 God is still asking this question. Your “send me” moment might not look glamorous—it might look like consistency, forgiveness, or showing up again—but it’s powerful.

  1. James 1:22 (NLT) - “But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.”

💭 Obedience is where revelation becomes reality. The blessing is not in the knowing—it’s in the doing.

🔄 Rhythm Shifts: Living a Lifestyle of Yes

Alright, Beauty—let’s get practical for a moment. Saying yes with your life isn’t about one big leap; it’s about the small, steady steps you take every day. Obedience becomes a rhythm, not a rush. These rhythm shifts will help you keep your heart aligned and your feet moving, even when it’s not easy.

1. Shift from convenience to conviction.

Stop waiting until it feels easy or makes sense. Conviction keeps you building when comfort says quit.

💡 Commit to one small step of obedience this week, even if it feels inconvenient.

2. Shift from hesitation to holy confidence.

You don’t have to have all the answers to say yes—you just have to trust the One who called you.

💡 Journal what God has already done when you trusted Him before. Let that fuel your next yes.

3. Shift from striving to surrender.

Your yes isn’t about earning His approval—it’s about aligning with His purpose.

💡 Take 10 minutes of stillness each morning this week to pray, “Lord, I say yes again today.”

Pray This Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for inviting me into a life that matters. I don’t want to just talk about faith—I want to live it. Give me courage to say yes when I’m unsure, strength to keep going when it’s hard, and grace to stay surrendered when I don’t understand. Let my life echo one simple truth: You are worthy of my yes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Journal Prompts:

  1. What is one area of your life where God is inviting you to say yes again?

✍🏽 Luke 1:38 (NLT) – “Mary responded, ‘I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.’”

  1. How has fear, perfectionism, or distraction delayed your obedience in the past?

✍🏽 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) – “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

  1. What would your life look like six months from now if you lived with a continual yes to God?

✍🏽 Philippians 1:6 (NLT) – “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished.”

Say this out loud today:

“My life is my yes. I will keep building, keep believing, and keep showing up until God says it’s finished.”

Here are my final thoughts:

Your yes carries Kingdom weight. Don’t underestimate what God can do with a willing heart and steady hands. You don’t have to have it all figured out—just keep saying yes with your life, one obedient step at a time. Heaven moves when you do.
